What is a virtual conversation practice session?

A virtual conversation practice session is an interactive, back-and-forth conversation between you and an animated talking character. To see a quick demonstration of a virtual conversation, just click on our home page. 

How many times will I practice the conversation?

In a virtual conversation practice session, you will do the conversation three times with text on the screen and three times without the help of any text.
You can also watch the video as many times as you'd like until you feel comfortable with the conversation.

How will I know when it’s my turn to speak?

During the conversation, you will see the text on the screen. Your lines will be written in white. Your virtual conversation practice partner’s lines will be a little pale. Say your lines out loud, first as person B, then wait for your virtual conversation practice partner to speak then say your lines again, just like a real conversation! After this, you will switch and you will be Person A.

When you are person A, you have to be ready to start speaking immediately because the first line in the conversation will be yours.  
After doing the conversation 3 times with the text on the screen, you’ll do the same again three times without the help of any text.

How do I jump to the part of the video that I want?

Along the bottom of the video, you'll see some little chapter markers. Each marker corresponds to a section of the video. 

Do you offer any discounts?

1) We offer discounts to not-for-profit organizations that assist refugees and help to settle new immigrants.
2) We offer discounts to not-for-profit organizations whose primary focus is working with children living in poverty.
3) We offer discounts to not-for profit organizations that assist the homeless.
4) We offer discounts to North American registered charities involved in deploying staff to an overseas mission.
5) We offer 100+ bulk discounts to corporations and other organizations registering 100 or more staff members/users/residents/clients.
6) We offer discounts to (Brick and Mortar) Schools and libraries.
7) We offer bulk discounts to Seniors organizations, retirement residences and homes for seniors.

How many conversations can I have per week?

Beginner courses offer ten new conversations every ten days to a maximum of 65.  During the final week 5 conversations will be released.
Intermediate courses offer ten new conversations every ten days to a maximum of 200.
Business courses offer ten new conversations every ten days to a maximum of 100.

Which accents will I hear during the conversations?

In the 365 English conversations, you will hear the following accents:

Beginner English

51-100:  American
101-150:  Canadian
151-200:  British

1-40:  American
41-80: Canadian

81-100: The Job Interview

American Candidate

How many languages do you offer?

We currently offer English, but plan to launch courses in French, Spanish, Japanese and Chinese.

Is any AI (Artificial Intelligence) used in these conversations?

The pronunciation exercises are powered by AI. These conversations use a branch of A.I called speech synthesis.

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. After completing a short comprehension quiz at the end of your course, you will receive a Course Certificate.
